Madagascar Ultra Trail 2020 – 5th edition

After 30 years in tourism and event management in Madagascar, Boogie Events started an unique trail running event 5 years ago: Racing Madagascar

The Ultra Trail of 150km in 6 days is held during a week in northern Madagascar. After the lemur (2016), the zebu (2017), the Chameleon (2018), and the Baobab (2019), the 5th edition will be the year of the gecko.

This unique trail running event is a meeting between runners coming from the entire world and local sport athletes. It is also a touristic discovery and of course a sport challenge! The event is timed according to the international rules. But rest assured that time cutoffs are wide enough to let you take pictures of the wonderful northern Madagascar!

Merrell Hobbit Trail Runs

Merrell Hobbit Trail Runs

Date: 26th April 2020
Where: Hogsback
Start & Finish: Arminel Hotel, Hogsback, Eastern Cape
Distance: 38km / 16km/ 5km
Entries:  mountainrunner.co.za

“The 38km run on Sunday may be referred to as the short one at the Hobbit Trail Run weekend,  but this phenomenal route is consistently noted as the ‘most value per kilometre’ trail run in the country. Showcasing an immense variety of terrain and challenges, the course has determined runners building a very special relationship with the ups and downs of mountain running.

The 16km and 5km routes are neither flat nor easy, but very doable and see a mixture of racers and casual runners all loving the magical vibe of the forest along well marked routes.

Merrell Whale of Trail

Merrell Whale of Trail in partnership with Cape Nature

Where: Western Cape
Start & Finish: De Hoop Collection, De Hoop Nature Reserve, Western Cape
Distance: 53km / 35km
Discipline: Trail Running
Entries: whaleoftrail.co.za
Entry Fee: R3900 / R3000

Description: Come experience this exclusive opportunity to run on the 5 day Whale Trail hiking route and fantastic vibe at the finish area, in peak whale watching season.

Starting in Potberg the runners will run through indigenous fynbos seeing Proteas and Erica’s in abundance. They will cross rivers and run atop ridgelines before running onto the rocky shores of the Indian ocean. The trail will snake along stunning paths that drift from the beach into coastal forests and along fynbos-covered hills. Runners will experience breathtaking views and possible sightings of the Southern Right whale. When they finally reach the end of the trail in De Hoop Nature Reserve, they will be filled with a peace and a sense of accomplishment for having completed a trail made in heaven.

If 53km is just a few steps too far, there’s now also a 35km route starting and ending in the same glorious places, with a well designed cut through that still gives you a taste of everything that the area has to offer
