Trail Running - Western Cape
“Botter” Trail run – SPUR COUNTRY CLASSIC SERIES – 2014. RACE # 5 30 AUGUST 2014 BEAUMONT WINE FARM, BOTRIVER, W.CAPE 21km and 10km JOIN US AFTER THE RUN AT BEAUMONT CELLARS FOR SOME LEKKER VIBES, WINE TASTING AND CREATING WAR STORIES AS THE AFTERNOON MATURES..! LIMITED, pre entries only. Online entries Right of admission reserved. Entries close on 26 August at midnight or once 300 runners have entered. No refunds once entered. Substitutions allowed at R30 admin fee. THE 10KM RUN IS SUITABLE FOR NOVICE-INTERMEDIATE “TRAIL” RUNNERS. The routes is by no means flat but it’s on a well used hiking trail with stunning views and various stream crossings, including running alongside a used railway track. THE 21KM route has a altitude gain of 1280m in total. The route is challenging from the 4km – 7km mark. The rest of the route is undulating with spectacular views. After the halfway mark, the 21km runners will run “next to” a railway track. There normally are not any trains on a Saturday but that’s not guaranteed. Runners will need to be aware and stay off the railway line for this 2km section in case there is a train! Event Cost: 21km = R220 / 10km = R130 Venue – Parking at Beamont Wines is limited to around 100 vehicles. Other parking available outside the gate/anywhere in Botriver – incl the village square. START: 21km – 08h00 10km – 08h15 Prize giving – 11h30 Product prizes from Spur Steak Ranches, First Ascent, Vivibarefoot and Glider Top runners can expect to take around 90-100mins to complete the 21km route and back markers about 3.5 hours. CATEGORIES Senior male [16-39] Senior female [16-39] Vet male [40+] Vet female [40+] Junior male – U16 [10km only] Juniors female – U16 [10km only] RACE RULES: This is for YOUR safety. Don’t be tempted to ignore this! It rained non stop at the 2013 run, providing the runners with unforgettable adventure. Not adhering to race rules will result in immediate disqualification. In case of rain, you would need to carry a “100% water proof” rain jacket WITH A HOOD. Please ensure you understand the difference between “100% waterproof” and “wind proof” A wind shell is NOT waterproof. In normal conditions, you need to carry a “wind proof” shell. Cell phone. In the case of a specific medical condition you may have ie allergic to penicillan etc, please ensure you email us with this information at least a week before the event. OUR TRAIL RUNS DO NOT HAVE WATER TABLES OR REFRESHMENT TABLES ON ROUTE – PLEASE BE SELF SUFFICIENT. This run has a few fresh drinkable streams on route. FULL DETAILS ON WEBSITE.
