NEW TITLE SPONSOR – AN INSPIRED PARTNERSHIP

We received amazing feedback about last year’s False Bay 50 from athletes, sponsors and other role players. Strand Athletics Club is proud and grateful that Kia is to be the Title sponsor for the 2023 False Bay 50. Their involvement proved invaluable to the success of last year’s event. Their sponsorship not only assists with running costs and logistics, but they will again be supplying utility vehicles for setting up and cleaning up before and after the race, as well as supplying luxury sweeper vehicles. Participating Kia Branches will also play host to race pack collections on Saturday, 6 May from 10h00 until 16h00.

Red Bull Quicksand

Red Bull Quicksand could be the toughest 1 mile you’ve ever run. Set on the beautiful sandy beaches of Durban, competitors run through the special course filled with giant sandcastles in an energy-sapping knockout format, with heats, semi-finals, and finals.

On top of the obvious challenge that comes with running on sand (runners expend up to 1.6x more energy on sand than running on a road surface), the course is rigged with giant sand castles, trenches and rollers, giving competitors a real test of endurance, acceleration, and bursts of speed.
