South Africa 42km Entry

This entry form is in support of South Africa’s bid to have the most runners competing in The Africa Challenge. Please note that our tees and medals are unfortunately only available to runners residing in South Africa, as we are using PAXI (PEP Store to PEP Store) to deliver race packs.

Date: 7 November 2020

Location: Worldwide – as it is a virtual challenge, you choose where to complete your 42km, adhering to local COVID-19 restrictions and maintaining social distance.

Entry Cost:

R150 with a virtual medal.
R210 with a physical medal (including courier cost).
R310 with a physical medal & moisture management tee (including courier cost).

The African Challenge is a virtual challenge that athletes can enter and run, wherever they are based in the world.
The African Challenge 42km is a virtual challenge that athletes over the age of 20 years and any ability can enter and run.
Entries open Thursday 17 September and close at 11:59pm on Saturday 31 October. All entries will be taken online via the Modern Athlete website, https://www.modernathlete.co.za/the-african-virtual-challenge/ and payment will be done via Payfast.
The entry fee for participation in the 42km is R150 per person.
Participants will be sent a detailed set of instructions via e-mail prior to the race starting, explaining the process of recording and submitting their times.
Participants must find their own relatively flat 42km outdoor route near their residential address, on which to run the race while adhering to lockdown restrictions.
Timing Options: Ideally, runners can use their smart devices to record their run, but times from apps such as Strava or something similar will be accepted. This is to verify activities are in fact correct, and submissions of times will still be a manual process via The African Challenge submission form.
Participants will be able to submit their times in the week following the event, the final submission will be on the 14th November 2020.
Treadmill times can be submitted for this race.
Spot Prizes will be drawn, no prize money will be on offer.
Results for the event will be published on our event website through leader boards published online.
Results announced will be final and no extra correspondence will be entered into by the organisers or sponsors of the challenge.
Race merchandise is unfortunately only available to participants in Kenya and South Africa. Due to financial constraints, we will only be placing the orders for race merchandise once entries close, to ensure we order correct amounts, and this will mean your medal and/or tee will only reach you after 15 working days after the event.
Participants in this challenge do so at their own risk, and release and discharge the organisers and sponsors from any responsibility, liability or costs relating to any injury, loss or damage of whatever nature, however caused, arising directly or indirectly from their participation in the challenge.
