The Team

Mike Bray - Entrepreneur and founder of Modern Athlete, Penquin International, PenQuin Australia and SPMedia. Brought global health franchise BoostJuice Bars to SA shores. Mike was an avid runner in school but then took an 18-year sabbatical. He returned to running in 2004, having decided to finally pursue his dream of running the Comrades. He has now run the Big C three times as well as the Two Oceans four times and the New York and London Marathons twice each. He has a real passion for running - besides the obvious health aspects, he loves the camaraderie and the discipline it brings to life. His next big goal is to conquer Ironman Western Australia in November.

Craig van der Westhuizen - Craig has a background in finance and a keen interest in using technology to make things faster and easier. He has been running since 2000 and has completed 2 Ironmans, the MidMar 8 mile and 7 Comrades Marathons. Craig's involvement in running started with the organization of his club's race, The Dis-Chem Half Marathon in 2008. Since then he formed a timing and events company, Peak Timing, providing timing and event services to a number of events. Peak Timing and Modern Athlete joined forced in 2013 and Craig manages operations for these two brands.

Sean Falconer - Studied journalism at Stellenbosch University and has worked on running publications for the past ten years, covering all the major events in South Africa, interviewing many great runners, compiling countless race calendars, writing many shoe and gear reviews, and getting to run in incredible places around the world, including the Himalayan Mountains in India. Loves the social side of road races and enjoys having a good chat with fellow runners - a great place to find good stories for the next edition!
