Nappy Run

Running - Gauteng
  • 5Km
939

The Nappy Run is aimed at creating awareness of rights and helps raise funds and/or nappies for children with disabilities. Incontinence is associated with various types of disabilities and children with disabilities have a disproportionately high need for nappies.

They need nappies up to an advanced age, often into their teens and even adult years. Having to go without nappies violates a child’s dignity, it is degrading, it causes discomfort and is also unhygienic. This is the core reason for the existence of the Nappy Run™ campaign.

The Nappy Run Campaign also includes a 5km event which will take place on Saturday, 5 November 2016, National Children Rights Day. The event will take place at the Johannesburg Zoo in Parktown starting at 9am. Participants can register from 7:30am until 8:30.

The registration fee for adults will cost R90 and for children aged 4-12, an entry will cost R45. Any children younger than 4 years old can take part free of charge. Last year we raised 25 000 nappies which were distributed to care centres throughout South Africa and this year we are calling on everyone to help raise 50 000 nappies so we can reach out and help more communities.

We are also seeing a significant growth in interest in the event. All runners and family members are invited to join us as we run this fun walk in support of children with disabilities after the event, you can continue to enjoy the zoo.

Accessorize with a cloth nappy and show your support of the cause. Click here to register. Physical donations of packs of nappies will be welcome but should one wish to do a monetary donation, please click here to donate nappy rands.

Your support would be much appreciated.
