Running by ear
11:46, Friday, February 10, 2012
To run with music or not? A lot of runners resist the distraction. I love it.

Fur on the go
12:10, Monday, January 30, 2012
If you need some company on your run, look no further than your dog. Forever loyal and almost always keen for a run around. Just make sure your hound is up for it so you two can benefit.

Two months into the DTT programme I’m feeling more confident and prepared for 70.3. Most of all, I feel very privileged to have the opportunity to train with the team.

Things have changed
15:42, Thursday, December 01, 2011
Looking back over the past few weeks of training as part of the DTT challenge, I can only laugh when I think back to myself uttering the following words last year: “I will not swim if it does not involve a pool-noodle or a pool side drink with an umbrella ” or “ I will only run when I am being chased” and look at me now...

So far, so good
12:04, Monday, November 28, 2011
My training so far has gone well. I had one week that I was really tired – I woke up tired and as the day passed I would just get more tired. But even though I was tired I got all my training done. Needless to say I would be ready for bed by 7pm!

Swimming work needed!
10:23, Monday, November 14, 2011
I have made some adjustments to the training plan to fit my schedule. Since swimming is my weakest discipline, I am trying to get in the water as much as possible.

On my way!

My first week of training was interesting in that I think it covered all the trials and tribulations that I am still to encounter on my journey to the red carpet finish.

I had to swap a few of the sessions around to fit in with other things, but somehow managed to get it all in.

A good start
15:18, Friday, October 14, 2011
I kind of think that my programme started on the Sunday with the launch. I didn't do physical exercise but the workshop gave me the little extra motivational push I needed. I really enjoyed listening to how to balance training and your family life.

Ups and downs in Week 1
12:43, Tuesday, October 11, 2011
Here I am a week into my DARE TO TRI challenge. Been training hard for the last few months to get to the famous red carpet. Then the wonderful opportunity of joining Modern Athlete, Derick and the rest of the group in the quest for glory. At the same time having the opportunity of taking on this journey with my wife.

The Fool in Me…
09:16, Friday, April 01, 2011
Admit it, most of us sit here trying to think of a great April Fools joke, but when you read about the trouble some people get into… Still, here’s one I would love to play on the SA running community!

Ever wonder what Adventure Racing is about?

Weekly Poll
Do you like running with music or is it a distraction?

I like to run with my Ipod or MP3 player - it helps me get through the run.

I like to pump dance music - higher beats per minute help!

No way, music is a distraction!

I prefer the sound of my breath, heartbeat and feet on the road. Nature is the best music.
